For change, Phillies stand pat at deadline – pressofAtlanticCity.com: Sports

Should the Phils have been sellers?  Buyers?  Not sure.  I do know we made some recent deals at the deadline and have little to show for it.  Question what did we get back for Hunter Pence?  Shane Victorino?  It is so easy to say get rid of guys….Chooch, Chase. Michael Young, Papplebon etc…but the problem is replacing them with Major League ready players.  There just doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of them out there.  This team has been beseiged with injuries and the nuances of an intact lineup cannot be overlooked.  Chooch, Chase, Dom Brown, Howard, Revere have all missed significant time….our alleged answer for the 8th inning Mike Adams has been out for months.  Injuries are the curse of the Philadelphia franchises of late…..we stayed healthy in 2008.  There is nothing better than being in the hunt in September….unfortunately it doesn’t look good for us …..but as the eternal optimist the St. Louis Cardinals had a worse record than the Phillies do this year on August 1, 2011….and they went on to win the Series.  (don’t hold your breath but stranger things have happened.

By the way who do you know that needs to buy or sell a house??  Hit me up….danielforeman@kw.com 609-517-7231

Ex-Phillie Darren Daulton diagnosed with brain cancer – pressofAtlanticCity.com: Sports

God Bless “Dutch” and all of his family and loved ones.  One of my favorite Phillies of all time.  A true leader and the backbone of the most entertaining Phils team of my lifetime!

Dutch was diagnosed with the same grade of cancer that my father had.  They both had the same neurosurgeon Dr. Kevin Judy.  I’m sure the Daulton family heard the same dire prognosis as the Foreman family did back in September 2000.  This is the most aggressive form of cancer…Stage 4…..Glioblastoma….. and the brutal news he more than likely heard Dr Judy tell him is that most patients diagnosed with this form of brain cancer have 6-12 months to live.  My dad thru eternal optimism, love and strength and also 2 additional surgeries made it 18 months….here’s hoping there have been some medical breakthroughs to fight the Glioblastoma and Darren Daulton can enjoy a long life.  Mid 50’s is simply too young to die.

Revised flood zone maps provide relief to worried homeowners – NBC40.net

This is very good news to all Jersey shore homeowners, future homeowners and municipalities.  If they did not change the V zones homes in Ventnor Heights as an example would have gone down 40-50% in value.  Hopefully this uncertainty becomes more clear and buyers will start feeling comfortable.

Wildwood to ban saggy pants!!

The fashion trend that started in the prison system because inmates can’t wear belts got momentum in the hip hop world and now is embraced by young suburbanites; is sure to be a point of contention on the Wildwood boardwalk this summer.

I am thinking it will be a nightmare to enforce this for the police and it will certainly lead to law suits and all sorts of money being spent.  But what else is new!  Lawyers will make money defending some 18 year old who is following the fashion trends of convicts.  Good times!!

Atlantic and Cape May Counties hire college for aid on flood maps – pressofAtlanticCity.com: Breaking News

The flood map continues to be a major point of contention.  Here’s hoping the issue is resolved.  For the sake of homeowners and buyers it is very important there is clarity on this issue.  We have a beautiful home listed in Ventnor Heights on Oxford Ave for 275k.  Unfortunately with the elevation uncertainties and flood insurance costs that could range from 3k to 15k per year it becomes a difficult property to sell.
